Houston, Texas...it's one of the biggest cities in the entire United States, but it's likely not near the top of your "Places I have to Visit" list. And while there is a ton to see in the city, it doesn't get half the tourist love that much smaller places often receive.
But the fact is-- you need to move Houston, Texas to the top of your vacation list. Here's why:
- It's cheap-Bottom line, the cost of living in Houston, Texas is insanely low for a big city. And this spills over into activities and tourism as well. You can stay in a nice hotel for a decent price and have plenty left over to visit all the area attractions. In fact, since 2009, hotel rates have dropped by 5 percent. And if you decide you want to stay, you can purchase a city condo for a small fraction of what it would cost anywhere else.
- There's a wide variety of dining-What sort of food are you in the mood for? Cuban? Get over to Caf Piquet on Bissonnet Street. Mexican food? You can find a place on nearly every corner. Thai? Indian? The fact is-it doesn't matter. Pretty much any style of food you can dream up-you can find. There's even an Asian Pizza place in China Town called Cheese Berry Asian Pizza & Sweets.
- Your brain has plenty of opportunity to stay occupied-Houston's Museum District is so packed full of world class facilities that it will literally take you weeks to see it all. From the recently remodeled Children's Museum to the Museum of Natural Science-there's something for all ages. You can also venture to the outskirts of towns to visit NASA Space Center or go a bit farther to Moody Gardens in Galveston to make sure your brain stays fit on your getaway.
- It's all about location-Sure there's plenty to visit in Houston, Texas, but it's also conveniently located near all sorts of other attractive locations. Just a few hours away from the Texas state capital, historic San Antonio, and Dallas-a trip to Houston means you can see the very best Texas has to offer. Take a week or take a month. Either way, you'll find no shortage of things to do.
Of course, what you've read here is just the tip of the iceberg. Just do yourself a favor and visit Houston, Texas as soon as possible.
